గుంటూరు-మాచెర్ల రైలు మార్గము 1930 సం.లో ప్రారంభమైంది.<ref>{{cite web|url= http://scrailways.blogspot.in/2012/01/time-line-and-milestones-of-events-scr.html?m=1 |title= Mile stones in SCR}}</ref> ఇది ఒకప్పుడు మీటరు గేజ్ రైలు మార్గముగా ఉండేది. తరువాత అది బ్రాడ్ గేజ్గా మార్చబడింది.
It was a Metre gauge line earlier. Later it was to converted Broad gauge. This line was used during the construction of [[Nagarjuna Sagar Dam]].
