==చరిత్ర==
ఈ స్టేషన్ చెన్నై సబర్బన్ రైల్వే నెట్వర్క్ లోని చెన్నై బీచ్-తాంబరం విభాగం నందు ఉంది. 1928 సం.లో ప్రారంభమైన ట్రాక్ పడి పనులు మార్చి 1931 సం.లో పూర్తయినని. సబర్బన్ సర్వీసులు బీచ్ మరియు తాంబరం స్టేషనులు మధ్య మొదటి మీటరు గేజి ఈఎంయు సేవలు, మే 1931, 11 న ప్రారంభించారు, మరియు 1.5 కెవి డిసిలో నడుపుతున్న, 15 నవంబర్ 1931 న విద్యుద్దీకరణ జరిగినది . విభాగం 1967 జనవరి 15 న 25 కెవి ఎసి ట్రాక్షన్ కు మార్చారు .<ref name="IRFCA_HistoryOfElectrification">{{cite web

The lines at the station were one of the first in Chennai to be electrified. They were energised on 1.5&nbsp;kV&nbsp;DC in 1931 with the electrification of the Chennai Beach–Tambaram section, and the third line in the section was electrified on 15 January 1965. The lines further south from the station, up to Chengalpattu, were electrified on 9 January 1965.
