[[భారతదేశం]]లో మూడవ పెద్ద నది, దక్షిణ భారతదేశంలో రెండో పెద్ద నది అయిన '''కృష్ణా నది'''ని [[తెలుగు]] వారు ఆప్యాయంగా '''కృష్ణవేణి''' అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. పడమటి కనులలో [[మహారాష్ట్ర]] లోని మహాబలేశ్వర్కు [[ఉత్తరం]]గా మహాదేవ్ పర్వత శ్రేణిలో సముద్ర మట్టానికి 1337 మీటర్ల ఎత్తున చిన్న ధారగా జన్మించిన కృష్ణానది ఆపై అనేక ఉపనదులను తనలో కలుపుకుంటూ [[మహారాష్ట్ర]], [[కర్ణాటక]], [[తెలంగాణ]] మరియు [[ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్|ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్]]<nowiki/>లలో సస్యశ్యామలం చేస్తూ మొత్తం 1, 400 కిలోమీటర్లు ప్రయాణం చేసి దివిసీమలోని [[హంసల దీవి]] వద్ద [[బంగాళా ఖాతము|బంగాళాఖాతం]]లో కలుస్తుంది.
