2008 లో తెలుగు సినిమా నటుడు [[గోపీచంద్ మలినేని|గోపీచంద్]] ప్రధాన పాత్రకోసం ఒక కథను చెప్పాడు.<ref name="idlebrain1" /> గోపీచంద్ మరియు అనుష్కాశెట్టి లతో [[శౌర్యం]] సినిమా కు దర్శకత్వం వహించాడు. తరువాత సంవత్సరాలలో ఆయన రెండవ చిత్రం కూడా గోపీచంద్ తో చేసాడు. 2011లో శివ తమిల సినిమా రంగంలో సిరుతై చిత్రంలో దర్శకునిగా ప్రవేశించాడు. ఈ చిత్రం ఎస్.ఎస్.రాజమౌళి యొక్క తెలుగు చిత్రమైన [[విక్రమార్కుడు]] సినిమా యొక్క రీమేక్. ఈ చిత్రంలో ప్రధాన పాత్రలో కార్తీ నటించాడు ఈ చిత్రం కమెర్షియల్ గా విజయం సాదించింది. ఈ విజయంతో ఆయన "సిరుతై శివ" గా మారిపోయారు.<ref name="thehindu.com" /> ఆయన దర్శకత్వం వహించిన నాల్గవ సినిమా [[దరువు (సినిమా)]] 2012 మేలో విడుదలైంది.
