స్వదేశము తిరిగి వచ్చిన పిదప భర్తతో బాటు స్వాతంత్రోద్యమములో పాల్గొని కారాగారవాసం అనుభవించింది. 1931లో విదేశీ వస్త్ర బహిష్కరణోద్యమము సందర్భములో తెనాలి లో ఆరు నెలలు ఆందోళన చేసింది. సహాయ నిరాకరణోద్యములో పోరాడి వెల్లూరు జైలులో ఒక సంవత్సరము నిర్బంధించబడింది. వెంకటగిరిలో జమీందారీ రైతుల ఆందోళనలో దెబ్బలు తిన్నది. హరిజనోద్యమము, దళితులతో సహభోజనాలు, కులాంతర వివాహాలు మున్నగు పలు కార్యక్రమాలు జరిపింది. 1940-42 మధ్య ఆంధ్ర కర్షక కాంగ్రెస్ కు అధ్యక్షురాలు గా చేసింది. 1946-47లో మద్రాసు రాష్ట్ర విద్యాసలహా సంఘమునకు సభ్యురాలు. 1956లో కృష్ణా కజిల్లా ఘంటశాలలో ఆంధ్ర మహిళా అధ్యక్షురాలు. 1952-53 లొ53లో రాయలసీమ కరవు వచ్చినపుడు బాధితుల సహాయమనకై నిరంతరము శ్రమించింది. "అన్నపూర్ణ" అని కొనియాడబడింది.
నిడుబ్రోలులో భర్తకు చేదోడు గా ఉండి, చివరకు సెప్టెంబరు 27, 1972న మరణించింది.
She was born in the year 1908 at Machavaram, Bapatla taluq, Guntur district, resident of Nidubrolu and daughter of Velaga Subbayya, wife of N.G.Ranga. She received early education at Sarada Niketan Guntur. She studied at Ruskin School of Arts, Oxford 1925-26. She conducted for six months, the camp for picketing of foreign cloth at Tenali 1931. She also organised women Satyagrahis of Guntur, West Godavari, and Krishna Districts during the Civil Disobedience Movement 1932 and was sentenced on 2-2-1931 to one year imprisonment and fine of Rs.500/-. She was incarcerated in the Vellore jail and was wounded during the Venkatagiri Zamindari Ryots campaign. She organised Harijan Day celebrations, inter-dining with Harijans and inter caste marriages. She was President, andhra Kisaan Congress 1940-42 and also collected funds for the defence of Madras Kissans in 1940. She was member, Madras State Educational Advisory Committee 1946-47. She Presided over the Andhra Women's Conference at Ghantasala, Krishna district, 1956 and worked for equal property rights for women. She did considerable service during the Rayalaseema famine 1952-53 by collecting cattle feeds, food grains and clothes and distributed them in the affected areas where she hailed as "Annapurna". She was elected member A.P. Legislative Council in 1958. She died on September 27, 1972.
