ప్రాంతం అనగా భౌగోళికంగా కొన్ని పరిస్థితుల దృష్ట్యా నిర్ణయించిన పరిమాణంలో భూమిపైన, భూగర్భంలో ఉన్న వనరులతో కలసి ఉన్న ప్రదేశం. దీనిని ఇంగ్లీషులో Terrain లేక land relief అంటారు.

This shows elevation model of New Zealand's Alpine Fault running about 500 km (300 mi) long. The escarpment is flanked by a vast chain of hills between the fault and the mountains of New Zealand's Southern Alps. Northeast is towards the top.
