౧౯౮౩లో చుక్కా రామయ్య పదవీ విరమణ చేసిన తరువాత ప్రభుత్వంచే ఆమోదించబడిన పింఛను ఇతర లాభములు అతనికి రాలేదు. దీనివలన అతను జీవనభృతికి మార్గములు చూసుకొనవలసి వచ్చినది.
Chukka Ramaiah, after retiring in 1983, could not get his pension and other benefits approved by the government[citation needed]. This made him to look for means for livelihood. He went to Basar's Saraswati temple and stayed there for a week to contemplate his future. There he decided to start teaching again privately. He owes much of his success in his post-retirement life to Basar saraswati temple. He moved to Hyderabad and settled in Nallakunta. Some students who were appearing for the IIT JEE entrance exam asked his help in mathematics. That batch was very successful in clearing the test. He became very popular and now an entrance exam is conducted for admission into the institute, Ramaiah Institute, which is called as Entrance exam for the entrance exam and over 20,000 students take the exam and the intake is 175 for every batch. Over 2,000 students got into IITs since its launching in 1985
అతను బాసర నందలి సరస్వతి ఆలయమునకు వెళ్ళి తన భవిష్యత్తు కొరకు ఆలోచించుకొనుటకు ఒక వారము దినములు అచట నుండెను. అక్కడ తను మళ్ళీ ప్రయివేటుగా టీచింగును మొదలుపెట్టుటకు నిర్ణయం తీసుకొనెను. తన ఉద్యోగ విరమణానంతరపు జీవితపు విజయమును అతను బాసర సరస్వతీదేవి ఆలయమునకు ఆపాదిస్తాడు. అతను హైదరాబాద్‌నకు వచ్చి నల్లకుంటలో స్థిరపడినాడు. ఐ.ఐ.టి జె.ఇ.ఇ ప్రవేశ పరీక్షకు సిద్ధమగుచున్న కొందరు విద్యార్ధులు గణితము నుందు అతని సహాయము అడిగినారు. పరీక్షను పాసవుటలో ఆ బాచ్ చాలా విజయము సాధించినది. అతను చాలా ప్రఖ్యాతి నొందినాడు మరియు ఇప్పుడు రామయ్య ఇన్స్టిట్యూట్ అను అతని ఇన్స్టిట్యూట్ నుందు ప్రవేశము కొరకు ప్రవేశ పరీక్ష కొరకు ప్రవేశ పరిక్ష అను పిలవబడు ఒక ప్రవేశ పరీక్ష జరుపబడును. ౨౦,౦౦౦ పైగా విధ్యార్ధులు ఈ పరీక్ష రాయుదురు మరియు ప్రతి బాచ్ నకు ౭౫ మంది ప్రవేశమునకు తీసుకొనబడుదురు. ౧౯౮౫లో ఈ ఇన్స్టిట్యూట్ ప్రవేశపెట్టబడినప్పటి నుండి ఇప్పటివరకూ ౨,౦౦౦ మంది పైగా విద్యార్ధులు ఐ.ఐ.టిలలో ప్రవేశించిరి.

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ నందలి బాసర నుంది ఐఐటి తెచ్చుటకు జరుపు పోరాటములో అతను కీలక భూమిక పోషించినాడు. కాని ప్రభుత్వం దానిని హైదరాబాద్ నుందు ఏర్పరచినది దానిని అతను వ్యతిరేకించాడు.
He was instrumental in the fight to set up an IIT in Andhra Pradesh at Basar. But the government set it up near Hyderabad, which was opposed by him
