గయలో బిహార్ స్కూల్ ఎక్జామినేషన్ స్కూల్‌కు అనుసంధానంగా జిలా స్కూల్, హాది హాష్మి హైస్కూల్, క్వాస్మీ హైస్కూల్, హరిదాస్ సెమినరీ ( టౌన్ స్కూల్), దియోసాఫికల్ మోడెల్ స్కూల్, గయ హైస్కూల్, అనుగ్రహ కన్యా విద్యాలయ, మహావీర్ స్కూల్, గవర్నమెంట్ హైస్కూల్ విద్యాసేవలందిస్తున్నాయి. న్యూ డిల్లీకి చెందిన కేంద్రియ విద్యాలయ సంఘానికి అనుసంధానంగా రెండు కేంద్రియ విద్యాలయ పాఠశాలలు సేవలందిస్తున్నాయి. ప్రభుత్వేతర పాఠశాలలో అధికంగా ఐ.సి.ఎస్.సి మరియు సి.బి.ఎస్.సి బోర్డుకు అనుసంధానంగా పనిచేస్తున్నాయి.
బ్రిటిష్ శకానికి ముందుగా స్థాపించబడి కొన్ని శతాబ్ధాలుగా విద్యాస్శ్వలందిస్తున్న సర్వస్వతంత్ర విద్యా సంస్థ అయిన నజారెత్ అకాడమీ ఇప్పటికీ తన సేవలు కొనసాగిస్తున్నది. బోధగయలో ఉన్న ఒకేఒక పాఠశాల నాన్ గరవర్నమెంట్ ఆర్గనైజేషన్ చారిటబుల్ స్కూల్ అయిన గ్యాన్ నికేతన్ స్కూల్ తనవంతుకు విద్యాసేవలందిస్తుంది. ఈ పాఠశాల పరిసరరాంతాలలో ఉన్న ఐదు గ్రామాలలోని 200 మంది బాలబాలికలకు ఉచిత విద్యను అందిస్తున్నది. క్రేన్ పాఠశాల ఐదు దశాబ్ధాలుగా విద్యాసేవలు అందిస్తూ నగరంలో త్యున్నత పాఠశాలగా పేరుప్రతిష్ఠలు సంపాదించుకున్నది. ఈ పాఠశాలలో విద్యార్ధులకు విద్యాబోధనతో ఇతర రంగాలలో శిక్షణాతరగతులు నిర్వహిస్తూ విద్యార్ధులకు ఉన్నత స్థాయి విద్యను అందిస్తున్నది.
 
 
There have been scholars from the city with contributions in the field of education, most of the government-run schools in Gaya (notably Zila School,Hadi Hashmi high school,Quasmi high school, Haridas Seminary – also knowns as Town School, Theosophical Model School, Gaya High School, Anugrah Kanya Vidayalaya, Mahaveer School, Government Girls High School) are affiliated to Bihar School Examination Board. There are two Central Schools (Kendriya Vidyalaya) affiliated with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi. Most of the private schools are affiliated to ICSE and CBSE boards.Nazareth Academy is the oldest one with its roots dating back to the British era and has a legacy of its own. Gyan Niketan NGO Non Government Organization charitable school is a single school in north side of Bodhgaya who provides free education to 200 students surrounded by more than five villages.Creane school has proved to be the best cbse school since last few decades with its outstanding performance in boards as well as extra curricular activities.
The only university at Gaya is Magadh University (largest university of Bihar) located near Bodhgaya established by educationist and the then Education Minister S N Sinha. Gaya has several colleges with graduate and post-graduate courses offered in Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Management and Computer Applications. The well known ones include Gaya College (NAAC accredited with Grade-A), Anugrah Memorial College, Gaya College of Engineering (GCE), Jagjivan College, Mahesh Singh Yadav College, Mirza Ghalib College. Gautam Buddha Mahila College (GBM College) is exclusively for women.
Officers Training Academy A new academy has been set up at OTA Gaya.
