దక్షిణ అమెరికా కు చెందిన అపియేసియా లో పుష్పించే మొక్క . ఇది పెరూ , అండీస్ , బొలీవియా ,అర్జెంటీనా దేశాల్లో కనబడుతుంది. సముద్ర మట్టానికీ 3,200, 5,200 మీటర్ల అడుగులు ఎత్తులో పెరుగుతుంది.[1][2]

వాతావరణ పరిస్థితులను తట్టుకోవడం కోసం దట్టంగా పెరుగుతుంది. ఇవి ఎక్కువ ఎత్తు పెరగకుండా భూమి మీద అడ్డంగా పెరుగుతాయి. ఒక సంవత్సర కాలంలో 1.5 సెంటీమీటర్ల మాత్రమే పెరుగుతుంది. సాధారణంగా ఇది నలుపు రంగులో ముదురు బూడిద రంగులో ఉంటుంది. 3,000 సంవత్సరాలకు పైగా ఉన్నట్లు అంచనా వేయబడింది. [3]
