శీలం ఇంగ్లీషులో chastity అంటారు. ప్రతివ్యక్తికీ ఈ శీలసంపద ముఖ్యమని అన్ని మతాలు ఘోషిస్తున్నాయి. వ్యభిచరించిన వ్యక్తికి ఈ శీలం పోయిందంటారు. మంచి నడత కలిగిన స్త్రీని పి.సుశీల అని పిలుస్తారు.
