ముల్లంగిని ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా పండించి వినియోగిస్తారు. వీటిని ఎక్కువగా పచ్చిగా తింటారు. అనేక రకాలు ఉన్నాయి. వాటి పరిమాణం, రుచి, రంగు, పరిపక్వతకు సమయాలలో వైవిధ్యం ఉంటుంది. ముల్లంగి మొక్కలు ఉత్పత్తి చేసే వివిధ రసాయన సమ్మేళనాలలో వాటి పదునైన రుచితో గ్లూకోసినోలేటు, మైరోసినేసు, ఐసోథియోసైనేట్లు ఉంటాయి. ఇవి కొన్నిసార్లు తోడు మొక్కలుగా పెరుగుతాయి. ఇవి కొన్ని తెగుళ్ళు, వ్యాధులతో బాధపడుతాయి. ఇవి త్వరగా మొలకెత్తి, వేగంగా పెరుగుతాయి. సాధారణ చిన్న రకాలు ఒక నెలలోనే వినియోగానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నాయి. పెద్ద డైకాను రకాలు పంటకు సిద్ధం కావడానికి చాలా నెలలు పడుతుంది. పెంచడం సులభం, త్వరగా పండించడం కారణంగా ముల్లంగిని తరచుగా అనుభవం లేని తోటరైతులు పండిస్తారు.<ref>{{cite journal | last1 = Price | first1 = Andrew J. | last2 = Jason | first2 = K.
