1940 లో జరిగిన [[లాహోర్]] సమావేశంలో జిన్నా ఈ విధంగా అన్నాడు: హిందువులు ముస్లింలు రెండు వేర్వేరు మతాలకు చెందినవారు, వీరి తత్వాలు, సామాజిక కట్టుబాట్లు, సాహిత్యాలు వేర్వేరు. దీని ద్వారా విశదమయ్యే విషయమేమంటే, వీరిరువురూ వేర్వేరు చారిత్రక వనరులద్వారా ప్రేరేపితమౌతారు. వీరి గ్రంధాలు వేర్వేరు, వర్ణనలు వేర్వేరు, ఇలాంటి సమయంలో వీరిరువురూ ఒకే రాజ్యంలో (దేశంలో) ఇమడలేకపోతారు, కావున వీరిరువురికీ ప్రత్యేకమైన రాజ్యాలుండడం శ్రేయస్కరం.
