నీరును కొంచెం దూరం తీసుకు వెళ్లడానికి లేదా కొంత లోతు నుంచి నీరును పైకి తేవడానికి ఉపకరించే పరికరాన్ని బొక్కెన అని అంటారు. బొక్కెనను ఇంగ్లీషులో బక్కెట్ అంటారు.

పూర్వం ఎద్దుల సహాయముతో బావిలోంచి నీళ్ళను తోడటానికి ఉపయోగించే పెద్ద తోలు సంచిని బొక్కెన అంటారు. ఈ తోలు సంచిని కట్టడానికి దానికి పైభాగాన ఇనుప బొక్కెన ఉంటుంది.
తరువాత కొంత కాలానికి పెద్ద తోలు సంచి స్థానంలో పెద్ద ఇనుప బక్కెట్లు వచ్చాయి. వీటిని కూడా బొక్కెన గానే వ్యవహరించారు. ప్రస్తుత కాలంలో బొక్కెనలు ఉపయోగించడం లేదు.
