The shooting of the film began on April 25, 2011. The audio Release was held on September 10,2012 at [[Shilpakala Vedika]] in Hyderabad. Devi Sri Prasad scored the music and there are 10 songs for which lyricists Jonnavithula, Chandra Bose, Sahithi and Bhasakara Bhatla have penned the lyrics. Venkat Sai, Karthik, Sri Krishna, Harini, Hariharan, Myraid Pro, Shankar Mahadevan, Suchith Suresan, Mamta Sharma, Gopika Poornima, MLR Karthikeyan, Jaspreet Jasz and Sunitha have crooned the tracks. Damarukam is the 50th film of Devi Sri Prasad. During music release, the musician thanked his mother for shaping up his career. He also thanked director Kodi Ramakrishna for giving him first film Devi. Meanwhile, he remembered Nagarjuna's help in working for big star movies. Directors SS Rajamouli and VV Vinayak were the chief guests at the function. Director K Raghavendra Rao unveiled the audio CDs and handed them over to others on the stage. The audio got positive Reviews. Mahesh S Koneru of 123telugu.com gave a review stating "DSP has scored a best musical album for ‘Damarukam’. The film has some pretty good numbers ‘Nesthama Nesthama’, ‘Sakkubai Garam Chai’ and ‘Shiva Shiva Shankara’. Duets aside, the album never lets you forget that Lord Shiva is going to be the predominant force in Damarukam, with 4bit numbers in all.
