నియంత
నియంత అనగా సంపూర్ణ అధికారంతో చలాయించే పాలకుడు. ఒక రాజ్యం నియంత చే పాలించబడడాన్ని నియంతృత్వం అంటారు. ఈ పదం అత్యవసర సమయాల్లో గణతంత్రరాజ్యం పాలించేందుకు సెనేట్ చే నియమింపబడే పురాతన రోమ్ లోని మేజిస్ట్రేట్ టైటిల్ గా ఉద్భవించింది. నియంతను ఆంగ్లంలో డిక్టేటర్ అంటారు. నియంత నియంతృత్వం శృతి మించినప్పుడు అతనిని క్రూరునితో పోల్చుతారు, అయితే ఆ పదం సమానార్థం కాదు.

నియంతృత్వం (Dictatorship) అంటే ఏ ఒక్కరో రాజ్యం మీద సర్వాధికారాలు కలిగి ఉండటం. ఈ విధంగా నియంతృత్వం చలాయించేవారిని నియంత అంటారు. ఉదాహరణకు జర్మనీని పరిపాలించిన అడాల్ఫ్ హిట్లర్ ఒక నియంత. నియంతృత్వం ఒక నిరంకుశ ప్రభుత్వ రూపాన్ని నిర్వచిస్తుంది, దీంట్లో ప్రభుత్వం ఏక వ్యక్తి, నియంత చేత పాలించబడుతుంది. ఇది మూడు సంభావ్య అర్థాలను కలిగి ఉంది.
