* ప్రస్తుతం జిల్లా 8 బ్లాకులుగా విభజించబడింది : ఝరియా, ధన్‌బాద్, నిర్స, గోవింద్పూర్, బలియపూర్, తుండి మరియు టాప్‌చంచి. బ్లాకులు 181 గ్రామపంచాయితీలు మరియు 1348 గ్రామాలుగా విభజించబడింది. జిల్లా పశ్చిమ సరిహద్దులో [[గిరిడి]] మరియు ఉత్తర సరిహద్దులో [[బొకారో]] , తూర్పు సరిహద్దులో [[దుమ్కా]] మరియు [[గిరిడి]] మరియు దక్షిణ సరిహద్దులో [[పశ్చి బెంగాల్]] రాష్ట్రానికి చెందిన [[పురూలియా]] జిల్లాలు ఉన్నాయి. జిల్లా 23°37'3" ఉ మరియు 24°4' ఉ అక్షాంశం మరియు 86°6'30" తూ మరియు 86°50' తూ రేఖాంశంలో ఉంది.
===సహజ విభాగాలు===
The district can be divided into three broad natural divisions, namely, (I) the north and north western portions consisting of the hilly region, (ii) the uplands containing coal mines and most of the industries and (iii) the remaining uplands and plains lying to the south of the Damodar river consisting of cultivable flat lands. The north and north western division is separated for the entire length by the Grand trunk road.
