==ప్రారంభ జీవితం==
సర్దార్ శోభా సింగ్ నవంబరు 29, 1901 న పంజాబ్ రాష్ట్రంలోని గురుదాస్ పూర్ జిల్లాలోని హరగోవిందపూర్ నందలి రాం గరియా సిక్కు కుటుంబంలోజన్మించాడు. ఆయన తండ్రి దేవ్‌సింగ్ భారతదేశ అశ్విక దళంలో పనిచేసాడు. 1949లో ఆయన చిత్రకారునిగా కెరీర్ ప్రారంభించినపుడు వారి కుటుంబం అండ్రెట్టా (పాలంపూర్ సమీపంలో) స్థిరపడ్డారు. ఈ గ్రామం హిమాలయాల దిగువన గల కాంగ్రా లోయకు దగ్గరలో చిన్న గ్రామం.
[[Sardar]] Sobha Singh was born on 29 November 1901 in a [[Ramgarhia]] [[Sikh]] family in [[Sri Hargobindpur]], [[Gurdaspur]] district of [[Punjab (British India)|Punjab]]. His father, Deva Singh, was in the Indian cavalry. In 1949 he settled down in [[Andretta, Himachal Pradesh|Andretta]] (near Palampur), a remote and then little-known hamlet in the Kangra Valley on the foothills of the Himalayas,
 
beginning his career as a painter. Sobha Singh is fondly remembered as Darji and his adopted daughter Bibi Gurcharan Kaur has converted Andretta into an ever popular tourist destination not only for art enthusiasts but for all who admire his work.at the art gallery. Gurcharan Kaur's son [[Hirday Paul Singh|Hirdaypal Singh]] now manages the [[SOBHA SINGH ART GALLERY]], a jewel in the heart of the Kangra Valley.
