Kotha Satchidananda Murthy (87), former Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University (1975-79) and Vice-Chairman of University Grants Commission (1986-89) born at Sangam Jagarlamudi near Tenali on September 25, 1924. Besides being an active teacher and philosopher, Prof. Murthy distinguished himself as a policy maker in higher education and as an efficient administrator. He was conferred BC Roy National Award in 1984 Padmabhushan in 1984 and Padma Vibhushan in 2001. He was a prolific writer and authored more than 30 books in English, Telugu and Hindi.
