ఉస్మానియా యూనివర్సిటి 1917 లో హైదరబాదును ఏలిన 7వ నిజాం అయిన ఫాత్ జంగ్ నవాబ్ మిర్ ఉస్మాన్ అలి ఖాన్ ఆసిఫ్ జా VII చేత నిర్మించబడింది.
Founded in 1917 by the [[Fath Jang Nawwab Mir Osman Ali Khan Asif Jah VII|VIIth Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawwab Mir Osman Ali Khan]], Osmania University is the seventh oldest institution of higher learning in India, the third oldest in southern India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely [[Hyderabad state|State of Hyderabad]]. Throughout its existence of almost nine decades, it has shown remarkable progress and sustained an integrated development of all faculties. It has made significant contribution to the academic, social and economic development of not only the region but to the nation as a whole. Its alumni have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally in various spheres of life and are spread far and wide around the world. ▼
