డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ, దీనిని రక్షావిహార్ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు.ఇది ఢిల్లీలోని ఒక సంపన్న పొరుగు ప్రాంతం.ఇది 1960 లలో భారత సాయుధ దళాల ఉన్నతుల కోసం నిర్మించబడింది.[1][2] ఇది ఢిల్లీలోని ఆగ్నేయ ఢిల్లీ జిల్లాకు ప్రధాన పరిపాలనా కేంద్ర స్థానం. డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీలోని అన్ని ప్రధాన ప్రాంతాలు, ఉద్యానవనాలు, విశాలమైన వీధులు, క్రియాశీల కమ్యూనిటీ క్లబ్‌లు చక్కగా నిర్వహించబడుతున్నాయి.ఇది వినోద, రాజకీయాలలో గుర్తించదగిన నివాసితు కేంద్రం.[3] డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీలో అనేక ఆహార శాలలు, కాఫీ షాపులు, ఆర్ట్ గ్యాలరీలు, హై ఎండ్ షాపులు ఉన్నాయి.[4][5][6] చైనాపై యుద్ధం ప్రకటించిన తరువాత డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ నుండి చైనా వస్తువులను బహిష్కరించాలని పిలుపునిచ్చినందుకు అంతర్జాతీయంగా 2020, జూలై 17న ఆ పిలుపు ముఖ్యాంశంగా మారింది.[7]

1947 లో భారతదేశ విభజన తరువాత, డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ సృష్టించబడింది.ముస్లింలు అధికంగా ఉన్న పాకిస్తాన్‌లో కొత్త సరిహద్దు మీదుగా ఉన్న భారతీయ సైనిక అధికారులకు సేవ చేయడానికి, స్వతంత్ర భారతదేశం కొత్తగా దీనికి భూమిని కేటాయించింది.[8] మధ్య ఢిల్లీ జిల్లా లోని చాలా ప్రాంతాల నుండి, దీని కేంద్ర స్థానంతో పాటు, ఈ ప్రాంతం ఢిల్లీలోని అన్ని ప్రాంతాల ప్రజలలో బాగా ప్రాచుర్యం పొందింది.డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీలో చాలా రెస్టారెంట్లు ఉన్నాయి.[9]

డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ క్లబ్, ఇది డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ వెల్ఫేర్ అసోసియేషన్ క్లబ్ అని పిలువబడే ఒక సేవా సంస్థ.దీనిని 1976 లో డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ ఎక్సుగా స్థాపించారు.అయితే దీనికి 1980 లో డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ అని పేరు మార్చారు.ఈ ప్రాంతం డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ వెల్ఫేర్ సంఘం క్రింద పనిచేస్తుంది.[10]

చారిత్రక కట్టడాలు మార్చు

ప్రధాన డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ వ్యాపారప్రాంతానికి దగ్గరగా ఒక వలయం లోపల షేక్ అలీ అష్టభుజి సమాధి ఉంది.దీనిని " షేక్ అలీ శకం" అని పిలుస్తారు.దీనిని15 వ శతాబ్దపు లోధి రాజవంశం శకంలో నిర్మించారు.చారిత్రాత్మక ప్రాంతమైన కోట్ల ముబారక్‌పూర్ సమీపంలో ఇది ఉంది.దీనిలో 20వ శతాబ్దం ఆరంభం వరకు సమాధి లోపల రెండు సమాధులు ఉండేవి. అవి నిర్మించి చాలా కాలం గడిచింది.ఈ సమాధుల స్థానంలో1960 నుండి డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ వెల్ఫేర్ అసోసియేషన్ (డిసిడబ్ల్యుఎ) కార్యాలయం ఉంది.[11][12][13]

ప్రజా రవాణా, ఢిల్లీ ట్రాన్స్‌పోర్ట్ కార్పొరేషన్ బస్సులతో పాటు ఢిల్లీ మెట్రో, ఆటోరిక్షా, టాక్సీ ద్వారా డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీని చేరుకోవచ్చు.లజ్‌పత్ నగర్ మెట్రో స్టేషన్ డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీకి చాలా దగ్గరగా ఉంది.ఇది వైలెట్ లైన్, పింక్ లైన్ మధ్య ఇంటర్‌చేంజ్ స్టేషన్.ఇది డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీలోని కొన్ని ప్రాంతాలకు, పింక్ లైన్‌లో ఉన్న సౌత్ ఎక్స్‌టెన్షన్ మెట్రో స్టేషన్‌కు, నడవడానికి దగ్గరగా ఉంది. డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీకి ఈశాన్యంలో ఢిల్లీ రింగ్ రైల్వే సేవా నగర్ రైల్వే స్టేషన్ ఉంది.

డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీకి దక్షిణాన ఢిల్లీ బాహ్య వలయం (రింగ్ రోడ్డు) సరిహద్దులో ఉంది.దాని తూర్పు, పడమరలలో వరుసగా లాలా లజ్‌పత్ రాయ్ మార్గ్, భీష్మ పితామా రహదారులు ఉన్నాయి. నార్త్ ఆఫ్ డిఫెన్స్ కాలనీ, ఢిల్లీ రింగ్ రైల్వే ట్రాక్‌లతో సరిహద్దుగా ఉంది.
