'''పడమటి కనుమలు''' ([[ఆంగ్లం]] Western Ghats) భారత ద్వీపకల్పానికి పడమర వైపున సముద్రతీరం వెంట ఉండే కొండల వరుస. దక్కన్ పీఠభూమి పశ్చిమ పార్శ్వంలో పశ్చిమ కనుమలున్నాయి. పశ్చిమ కనుమలను ఉత్తరభాగంలో [[మహారాష్ట్ర]]లో సహ్యాద్రి పర్వత శ్రేణి అని పిలుస్తారు. ఇవి [[తపతి నది]] లోయకు దక్షిణంగా మహారాష్ట్రలోని ఖాందేష్ నుంచి ప్రారంభమై పశ్చిమ తీరానికి సమాంతరంగా 1600 కి.మీ పొడవున దక్షిణాన [[కన్యాకుమారి]] వరకు అవిచ్ఛిన్నంగా వ్యాపించి ఉన్నాయి. వీటి సరాసరి ఎత్తు 1200 మీటర్లు. వీటి వాలు సముద్రం వైపు చాలా నిటారుగా, పీఠభూమి వైపు తక్కువగా ఉంటుంది. ఈ పశ్చిమ కనుమలు సముద్ర తీరానికి 50-60 మీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉన్నాయి. వీటికి ఉత్తర భాగంలో థాల్ ఘాట్, బోర్‌ఘాట్ అనే కనుమలున్నాయి. ఈ కనుమల ద్వారానే దక్కన్ పీఠభూమికి కొంకణ్ మైదానాలకు రోడ్డు, రైలు మార్గాలను వేశారు. దక్షిణ భాగంలో పాలఘాట్ కనుమ [[తమిళనాడు]], [[కేరళ]]లను కలుపుతుంది.
