భారత ప్రధానమంత్రి, భారత ప్రభుత్వ అధినేత. [2][3] ప్రభుత్వంలో అత్యంత శక్తివంతమైన స్థానం. పదవి రీత్యా రాష్ట్రపతి స్థానం దీనికంటే ఉన్నతమైనదైనా, రాష్ట్రపతి అధికారాలు కేవలం నామమాత్రం కాగా, వాస్తవంలో అధికారాలన్నీ ప్రధానమంత్రి, మంత్రి వర్గం వద్దే కేంద్రీకృతమై ఉంటాయి. ప్రధానమంత్రి నియామకం మార్చు

ప్రధానమంత్రిని రాష్ట్రపతి నియమిస్తాడు. లోక్‌సభలో ఆధిక్యత కలిగిన పార్టీకి చెందిన నాయకుడిని మాత్రమే రాష్ట్రపతి ఆహ్వానిస్తాడు. కాని, ఏ ఒక్క పార్టీకి కూడా పూర్ణ ఆధిక్యత (సభ్యుల సంఖ్యలో సగానికంటే ఒకటి ఎక్కువ) లేనపుడు, అత్యధిక సభ్యుల మద్దతు కలిగిన సంకీర్ణ నాయకుడిని గాని, లోక్‌సభలో అత్యధికుల మద్దతు కూడగట్టగలిగిన అతిపెద్ద పార్టీ నాయకుడిని గాని రాష్ట్రపతి ఆహ్వానిస్తాడు.

ప్రధానమంత్రి తన విధుల నిర్వహణలో సహాయపడేందుకు మంత్రివర్గాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసుకుంటాడు. ప్రధాని ఎంపిక చేసిన సభ్యులను రాష్ట్రపతి నియమిస్తాడు. [9] మంత్రుల ప్రమాణం రాష్ట్రపతి ద్వారా జరుగుతుంది. మంత్రుల శాఖలను ప్రధానమంత్రి కేటాయిస్తాడు. మంత్రులను తొలగించే అధికారం ప్రధానమంత్రిదే. మంత్రివర్గ సమావేశాలకు ప్రధానమంత్రి అధ్యక్షత వహిస్తాడు. ప్రభుత్వ విధానాలను నిర్ణయిస్తాడు. వివిధ మంత్రిత్వ శాఖల మధ్య సమన్వయ సాధన, వివాదాల పరిష్కారం ప్రధానమంత్రి బాధ్యత. ప్రణాళికల రూపకల్పనలో కీలకమైన ప్రణాళికా సంఘానికి ప్రధానమంత్రి అధ్యక్షత వహిస్తాడు.

రాజ్యాంగ ప్రతిపత్తి కలిగిన ప్రధాన ఎన్నికల కమిషనరు, ప్రధాన విజిలెన్సు కమిషనరు, కంప్ట్రోలర్ అండ్ ఆడిటర్ జనరల్, న్యాయమూర్తులు మొదలనిన వారి నియామకాల్లో రాష్ట్రపతికి సలహాలు ఇస్తాడు. పార్లమెంటు సమావేశాలు, లోక్‌సభను రద్దు చేయడం, ఎమర్జెన్సీ ప్రకటన, యుద్ధ ప్రకటన, యుద్ధ విరమణ మొదలైన కీలక ఆంశాలపై రాష్ట్రపతికి సలహా ఇస్తాడు. ప్రధానమంత్రుల జాబితా మార్చు

స్వాతంత్ర్యం తరువాత 14 మంది ప్రధానమంత్రులుగా పనిచేసారు. [lower-alpha 1] జవహర్‌లాల్ నెహ్రూ నాలుగు సార్లు చేసాడు (1947-1952, 1952-1957, 1957-1962, 1962-1964). [11] ఇందిరా గాంధీ మూడు సార్లు (1966-1971, 1971-1977, 1980-1984), అటల్ బిహారీ వాజపేయి మూడు సార్లు (1996, 1998-1999, 1999-2004) ప్రధానమంత్రిగా పనిచేసాడు. గుల్జారీలాల్ నందా రెండు సార్లు తాత్కాలిక ప్రధానమంత్రిగా పనిచేసినా, ఆపద్ధర్మ ప్రధానిగా మాత్రమే చేసాడు. నరేంద్ర మోదీ రెండుసార్లు (2014-2019, 2019-) ప్రధానమంత్రి అయ్యాడు. స్వతంత్ర భారతదేశంలో జన్మించిన తొలి ప్రధానమంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ. స్వాతంత్ర్యం తరువాత, 30 ఏళ్ళపాటు కాంగ్రెసు పార్ఠీకి చేందిన వారే ప్రధానమంత్రిగా ఉంటూ వచ్చారు. 1977లో మొట్టమొదటి సారిగా మొరార్జీ దేశాయ్ కాంగ్రెసేతర ప్రధానమంత్రిగా బాధ్యతలు స్వీకరించాడు. భారతీయ జనతా పార్టీకు చెందిన అటల్ బిహారీ వాజపేయి 1996లో మొదటిసారి ఎన్నికయ్యాడు. మళ్ళీ, 1998లో ప్రధానమంత్రి అయ్యాడు. 2004 ఎన్నికలలో కాంగ్రెసు నేతృత్వంలోని సంకీర్ణం అధికారంలోకి వచ్చి డా.మన్మోహన్ సింగ్ ప్రధానమంత్రి అయ్యాడు.
